I went back and read it again.  Not sure if it is promoting worldliness, unless love of pizza and family is worldly.  The author appears to be rehashing the Realist/Nominalist controversy, which was a hot-button issue in the late Middle Ages - the Platonists were Realists, while Peter Abelard and William Ockham (of Ockham's Razor fame) were Nominalists.  I am a Nominalist myself, but I freely admit that this particular erudite article is way over my head and I am not sure how I am supposed to respond to it.  This author needs to set the cookies down on a lower shelf where simpletons like me can reach them.
