"The lockdowns implemented to curb the transmission of COVID-19 in the United States and across the globe have not only been a “heinous abuse of power,” but they have also failed to protect the elderly and vulnerable, according to former White House COVID-19 adviser Dr. Scott Atlas.

"In an interview for Epoch TV’s “American Thought Leaders,” Atlas, a public health policy expert, suggested that the consequences of lockdowns, which he believes have been largely fear-driven, will be felt in the country for decades to come.

“We will have a massive price to pay for what was done in the United States,” said Atlas. “The consequences of the lockdowns have been enormously harmful and they will last for decades after this pandemic is completely finished.”

"In November 2020 Atlas resigned as former President Donald Trump’s special adviser on the White House pandemic task force. He is a senior fellow for the Hoover Institution at Stanford University.

"A large failure on the part of public health experts, Atlas said, has been the approach to stop COVID-19, the disease caused by the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus, at all costs, disregarding the consequences of the policies that were implemented in an attempt to do so."

Disregarding the consequences of an action seems to be pretty common with political leaders.

It was four years ago, in March 2020, that health officials declared COVID-19 a pandemic and America began shutting down schools, closing small businesses, restricting gatherings and travel, and other lockdown measures to “slow the spread” of the virus.
To mark that grim anniversary, a group of medical and policy experts released a report, called “COVID Lessons Learned,” which assesses the government’s response to the pandemic. According to the report, that response included a few notable successes, along with a litany of failures that have taken a severe toll on the population.
...
“Even though the initial point of temporary lockdowns was to ’slow the spread,' which meant to allow hospitals to function without being overwhelmed, instead it rapidly turned into stopping COVID cases at all costs,” Dr. Scott Atlas, a physician, former White House Coronavirus Task Force member, and one of the authors of the report, stated at a March 15 press conference.
...
“Granting public health agencies extraordinary powers was a major error,” Mr. Hanke told The Epoch Times. “It, in effect, granted these agencies a license to deceive the public.”
...
“I guarantee you, they will try to do this again,” Mr. Moore said. “And what’s really troubling me is the people who made these mistakes still have not really conceded that they were wrong.”
...
The CTUP report cites a 2021 study on government power and emergencies by economists Christian Bjornskov and Stefan Voigt, which found that the more emergency power a government accumulates during times of crisis, “the higher the number of people killed as a consequence of a natural disaster, controlling for its severity.

i was writing about all that as it was happening... ....i had a thread called "viral stupidity" talking about how some of the more draconian actions were actually having the exact opposite effect on public health as what the liberal bureaucrats claimed... ...many things they did were actively causing the virus to spread... ..

but in the end the lockdowns were very effective in bringing about what the democrats desired - which was to destroy the economy and state of the country just enough so that the short attention spans.. and even shorter memories.. of american voters would cause them to vote trump and other conservatives out of office...... ...

and yes they are more than ready to do it again if they think it will help their side win another election... and since the average american memory turns itself over every 6 months - the end of april and early may this year would be the perfect time for them to begin more lockdowns... ... then after novemeber when they have won another election they can lift all the restrictions and pretend to save the country again......

it will happen again..... because not only will american voters not remember who it was and what policies actually turned the country around after the 2016 election - but in 6 months from now they won;t rmember those of us who warned against forgetting what happened - and most certainly will not rmember what we said..... .. like merlin said in the movie excalibur.... . "for it is the doom of men that they forget"...
