Who do they think they are?

I can only comment on what I've seen in this article and others, but it sounds like this Tony Spell guy in Louisiana thinks the shelter-in-place orders are a direct attack on religious liberty that are targeting churches specifically. Rodney Howard-Browne, being drunk in the Spirit, probably thinks he's magically exempt from infection. Bad politics and bad theology result in a perfect storm of stupid.

If the government passed laws specifically forbidding churches to assemble, even in nice, passive Canada, you'd see widespread defiance. But the present orders banning large gatherings (more than 5, here in Ontario) apply to everyone equally. I attend one of the largest churches in this city. The chances of a coronavirus carrier coming into a service and unknowingly passing the virus on are quite high. Many of our members work in hospitals or have family members in retirement residences, which are breeding grounds for dangerous infectious illnesses. There's currently a coronavirus outbreak at a residence just a few blocks from my house. Is that what we want churches to give to the community? We'd literally be a ministry of death.

My church is relatively small and meets in an auditorium that would allow us to be spaced apart but my pastor discussed it with others in the church and they agreed not to assemble. We are now doing livestream services (only AM).

Apparently Howard-Browne thinks he's got some kind of machines in his church that destroy all viruses on sight. (Did he borrow Benny Hinn's Holy Ghost machine gun?)

Anyway, this happened today. Stupidity has consequences. Hope the powers that be drop a train on him.

Sheriff’s Office obtains arrest warrant for pastor of Tampa church that held two large Sunday services

Yeah, who's holy laughing now, Rodney?

How is this an attack on religious freedom when the government is asking ALL gatherings of over 10 to be cancelled. It's not like they are targeting one specific group...

But I would like to ask you all, "If you were to die in 14 days, would you go to heaven or would there be some doubt?"

There, I got my witness in. Yep, thats it. And make sure you follow in believers baptism before the 14 days is up.

This is more dangerous than snake handling because that only puts those who handle snakes at risk. This affects those in the church but those outside the church as well if one is infected.

I don't know any churches in Canada that are doing this and that includes "Apostolic" churches.
Our old non-denominational church where we were living FINALLY stopped having services this Sunday after the first COVID-19 patient was identified in the county. It's an odd church, a merger of a Baptist and a Full Gospel church. When the churches over here in the St. Louis area were moving to online services, I made a comment on social media about how I thought it was a good idea in this pandemic. They blasted me back, "we have no fear of a virus because we trust in Jesus!"

I guess they never go to a doctor or hospital, or take any medications at all? Or don't they trust in Jesus enough?
