De Blasio threatens to close churches permanently.

Banning large gatherings (including religious services) temporarily, during a crisis, is reasonable.

Closing churches and synagogues permanently, on the other hand, is a blatantly unconstitutional abuse of power. Iffen he tries it, sue de Blasio to death, then stomp on the bits.

It is amazing how one word, literally one word in this case, changes the whole perspective. If de Blasio avoided saying "permanently" no one would have argued against him. He's like the Democrat version of Trump.

I believe permanently was purposeful and not simply a misstatement.
I don’t think this is the time for civil disobedience.
I hope and pray this passes before we have to make that decision.

I believe our current Supreme Court would take the side of the first amendment if this were to drag on for many months or if any attempt was made to permanently close churches.

I think we must use wisdom and common sense in the short term.

He's gone too far. This whole thing started with people getting off airplanes and ships. My solution in hindsight would be to have given everyone masks so they can get to their residences and self-quarantine for the 14 days without infecting people while en route. If that was done there would be no need for mitigation measures. I hope they do this next time because there will likely be another one.
