Time For a New Forum?

You’re welcome to ban me anytime you’re ready.
May we never be so petty! I think the only thing "Ban-able" here on the FFF is using "R-Rated Cuss words" or posting pornographic pictures and even then, you would likely receive a warning first!

There may be some other things but suffice it to say, no one here is banned for making a "Donkey" of themselves from time to time! Even those who defend the likes of Jimmy Carter!

Nice to see at least one sees the OP in the spirit in which it was posted.

I know you are being sarcastic, but remember that sarcasm is “often hostility disguised as humor.” Let’s get a little bit into the psychology of this issue (and thankfully, we have a couple of our own resident psychology experts who might be willing to chime in and help explain to us morons where the article has erred—J/K, I’m being “sarcastic” 😉) https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/and-running/202012/behind-the-scenes-sarcasm?amp

Carter told me if you keep it up, he’s going to have you turning the heater off and you’ll be forced to rock a cardigan sweater in your house this winter. 🫤

I don't have a cardigan but I do have a really cool argyle pullover that I am wearing right now. Looks "festive" but not in an "Ugly Christmas Sweater" sort of way. I haven't turned on the heat yet but I did just fire up our gas fireplace for the first time this morning. I think it was Nixon who had the country turning our thermostats down to 68F back in the early 70s but I could be wrong about this.

Really? I’ll have to double check that later today. I thought that was part of Carter’s “fireside chats” or whatever it was called.

Update: we’re both correct. Thanks for the info, didn’t know Nixon had also gone that route. https://www.foxweather.com/lifestyle/when-the-president-controlled-the-thermostat.amp

The so-called "Energy Crisis" started during the Nixon administration especially with the Arab Oil Embargo in 1973. The federally mandated 55 MPH Speed Limit also happened under his watch. Ford and Carter also carried the torch during their respective administrations but it started with "Tricky Dick!"

I was a kid back then but I remember it well. I learned all about all that from In The News, those short inserts between Saturday morning cartoons... I thought the 55 MPH speed limit was dumb because wouldn't you want to be able to get to a gas station faster? When I was a child, I thought as a child...

I remember that.

At the Caines Manor, we keep the thermostat at 67 or 68. If we keep it any higher, I'll begin to sweat.
Last night, my daughter turned the thermostat up to 68 and I about suffocated from the heat. We bought a new high efficiency furnace and it works better than we expected. 66 or 67 is normal for us.

68 is freezing for me.... 🥶. .... my sister likes to keep our ac thermostat down at 64... but blocking the vents and open windows and lanai door in my room keep it around 80... plus this place never seals up like a mainland house does so outside air always comes in.... . .it;s 82 outside right now which is nice..... but the trade winds blowing in from the north east make it much cooler up at the elevation where we are... ...over all..because of where it is and the way it;s built - this place is very nice without air conditioning even in the hottest outside air temperatures.... .but my sisters office was based in new york city for many years... . and she spent a lot of time in cold places when she travelled... so.... since she owns the place and she pays the bills she gets to determine the ac settings.....❄️

and why would they want to do that?..... it;s much more entertaining to watch a man educated through magazines make a fool of himself..... . especially on a subject as poorly understood as that one....
