This smacks of NJP (non-judicial punishment) in the US armed forces. In the Navy it was called Captains Mast, the Marines call it Article 15. It's based on the UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice). Things that happen under the UCMJ don't transfer to courts outside of the military, whereas a Court Martial does.

Typically, the maximum penalty under the UCMJ is a reduction in rank by one step, half a months pay for up to three months and 45 days of restriction which is typically served in a special barracks but the member continues same or alternative duties.

Under NJP, a service member may also be referred for administrative discharge.

The Times of Israel article I posted earlier called it 30 days of prison, but I can't judge the accuracy of that.

They may be wording it so the general public understands... I can't imagine those soldiers are off to the Israeli version of Leavenworth... Probably, a lower level of incarceration equivalent to what the Navy calls "the brig."

On a side note, all kidding aside, I don’t understand the “Ransom is gay or doesn’t date” narrative. How do we know he just doesn’t discuss his dating life? I’ve hardly ever mentioned my wife on this forum, but yet I’m married.

Interesting. So it’s basically the civilian equivalent of being suspended w/out pay from work, but not terminated.

I don’t know. You’d have to ask @Ekklesian he told Ransom the other day…..something about him not being married and Ransom responded with something like…..there there now be careful about the gossip……something like that.

So I’m guessing Ransom slipped at some point and gave more information than he normally does.

I know for a fact he’s mentioned a girlfriend in the past. I don’t know if it was a recent girlfriend or many years ago, but I’ve seen it mentioned in the past tense. I’ve always just assumed he doesn’t discuss his dating life. I don’t mention my wife hardly ever. Same with my daughter. The only mention I’ve made of her is in reference to shopping for colleges.
