“Keep doing the Lord’s work”—Hood to Kermit GosnellHey, don't sweat it, Jeff ... just think of it as medical assistance in dying.

Exactly why the thought of him being a "spiritual advisor" to someone whose life is about to end sends chills up my spine.Jeff Hood is an advocate of polyamory, defined as "the practice or support of, maintaining committed, romantic, and/or sexual relationships with more than one partner, in parallel or concurrently, with the consent of all involved partners."

Southern Baptist Pastor Affirms Polyamory!
*Interview I did with Chuck McKnight/Hippie Heretic...which originally appeared atwww.patheos.com
"Rev. Dr. Jeff Hood is a Baptist pastor, theologian, and activist living and working in Texas. In addition to two bachelor and four graduate degrees, Dr. Hood holds a doctorate with a focus in Queer Theology from Brite Divinity School at Texas Christian University. In addition to his studies, Dr. Hood was ordained to the ministry in 2006, at a church within the Southern Baptist Convention. In 2009, Dr. Hood graduated with an MDiv from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2009. The author of 19 books, Dr. Hood is particularly proud of his recent book The Execution of God from Chalice Press. In 2016, Dr. Hood’s book The Courage to Be Queer was named the third best religion book of the year at the Independent Publishers Book Awards."

Is the Church Ready to Respond to ‘Christian’ Polyamory?
C. Daniel Motley on the rise of 'Christian polyamory.'www.thegospelcoalition.org
"Writers and teachers such as Jeff Hood are all too willing to provide just such justification for Christians wishing to pursue these types of relationships. Hood, a progressive pastor in Dallas and former SBC minister, claims that 'love is the thrust of Scripture.'. . . When confronted with Paul’s teaching on marriage, Hood dismisses him entirely: 'I find Paul’s patriarchal words to be derogatory, demeaning, and dismissive.'”
He is variously identified as Southern Baptist and former Southern Baptist, and apparently is now affiliated with the Old Catholic Church (not Roman Catholic). Not much commitment to doctrinal consistency there.

Probably, but if this guy has been truly redeemed by the Savior, Hood had nothing to do with it.At least we can say that as a spiritual advisor to a man sitting on death row for beating his wife to death and his execution a week away, Hood's advocacy of polyamory or "queerness" probably isn't going to have much of an impact.
Is this real or satire?“Keep doing the Lord’s work”—Hood to Kermit Gosnell
It sounds like that decision/event happened prior to them meeting.Probably, but if this guy has been truly redeemed by the Savior, Hood had nothing to do with it.
The latter. Is this real or satire?
Is this real or satire?
Wolf in sheep's clothing personified.Satire, I think, but in the article I linked, he did say basically the same thing about Jack Kevorkian.
But he did say that his advocacy for abortion rights is doing what Jesus would want:
I am a recovering sexist who is learning how best to stand up for women. Like many of those pushing for restrictive legislation, I am also a follower of Jesus. The difference is that when I met Jesus…and realized that “Go and sin no more” included my sexism too…I changed.
Hood isn't just a "progressive Christian." He's a living, breathing stereotype of a progressive Christian.
In the context of his comment, I read it that he was setting aside "gatekeeping". He's writing to his crowd. He wants to mention the ODB material. He knows that won't sit well in his circles. He claims that he wants to put grace ahead of gatekeeping. I'm not sure why I should see that as a negative.Thinking about it, I can understand why this Hood guy is so concerned about "gatekeeping"...
For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few. Matthew 7:14 ESV
He is right, we disagree on some essential matters, but I appreciate his generous and gracious spirit and the work he does with people who are inmates on death row. I respect his willingness to share what he has written in this post.
The beauty of this is that the gentleman who wrote the blog post was moved to mention it and also swallow hard and give credit where he admitted that he didn't want to.
Also to his credit, he chose grace over gatekeeping.
I respect people who act respectfully.I notice you tend to hold these types up as exemplars for us all the while pretending to disagree with them.
