I did. I’m not God. And it’s not about vengeance it’s about protection and not associating with these people. I don’t want me or my family or others to be around these people.

I’ve never been molested so I have nothing to forgive. If that’s the verse you want to throw at someone that’s been molested have at it.

You don’t like the Bible and its difficult implications. It’s okay, you’re in plentiful company. I’ve witnessed the reluctance to rely upon the word by scores of (Christian) people over the years.

Should a person who has been molested be open to forgiveness for their offenders?

It should be remembered that forgiveness is not equivalent to restoration of trust. Forgiveness in human terms is for the offense itself; not extending trust to the offender is wisdom.

Well, this conversation has to do with allowing someone who has sexually abused someone to be a member of your church.

It was a general statement about how Christians (sometimes myself included) only give lip-service to believing and applying the Bible, especially the parts that make us uncomfortable.

Restoration of trust. Is what I’m talking about. And it seems that some will allow these people to become members of their church. So what if this man backslides and abuses a child in said church?

As I’ve said I’ve never been violated sexually. If you are willing to put the members children at risk in your church that’s on you. And if he backslides on a child in your church you have to live with that not me.

If it was up to me, yes it would be the unforgivable sin.

See how you IFB people throw molesting children in with all other sins? Like cheating on your spouse or over eating or getting drunk. Not sorry but that’s just twisted thinking in my opinion.

Sure you can be a member of my church so and so got drunk 3 weeks ago and he repented.

Weird how in your church if someone drinks alcohol he cannot be a member but if someone violates a child he is more than welcomed because he repented.

I’ve already addressed the “risk” via the linked article and policies that would guarantee that while they are in the assembly they would never be allowed to be alone with a child, and they would never NOT have staff assigned to keep an eye on them.
