Not Your Father's RINO!

And at one time Bill Clinton was decidedly considered "progressive", lol.
Compared to Democrats of today,Bill Clinton was fairly conservative.

Basically ended welfare for able bodied men.
Implimented deportation for Illegals who commit any crime.
Strengthened the border.
Balanced the Bidget
Lowered the national debt.
Cut spending (lowered the rate of increase for budget categories.
Protected 5 new national parks and protected 60 million acres of national forest.
Promoted school choice with charter schools.
Very tough on crime, pushed the 1996 crime bill.
Created "COPS" funding to put 100,000 more police on the streets patroling.

Sound more like a Republican than a Democrat to me. He could NEVER get nomonated today.

Just shows how far we've fallen when we look back at his administration and recall it as the good old days.

Just goes to show... Political reform will not be our salvation.

That was pretty much a Republican controlled house and senate.

Trump has always been good at branding. But the left is so radical now, that anything but an equal and opposite response serves them. So he's kinda correct.

Ronald Reagan, the ultimate RINO! :)

Good list. If I am not mistaken he also signed the defense of marriage act.

Where do tariffs fit in the current Republican worldview? Across the board "tax" that will be passed on to the consumer. It definately causing me some cognitive dissonance.

If he approached this congress as he did the congresses of his term, then, yeah. Just another Pence, just less wishy washy.
So real Republicans haven't changed. The people who think that they are Republicans have.

What policies does trump advocate, other than getting tough on trade, are contrary to the policies of Nixon, Regan and the Sr. Bush.

These were the Republican forfathers of my life time.

Always remember Bush Jr. tried so hard to please the media and to placate the Democrats that not all his policies were traditional Republican positions.

Trump is pro taffif because he is a populist and believes its good for American Workers. Many traditional Republican do not agree with Trump on his trade policy. Remember the Republicans have always been for free trade even if its not fair trade. 6 to 20 million jobs left this country becuase of NAFTA, GATT (8 rounds). Some were jobs that may have been lost to automation and technology if they had not gone to Mexico, Korea and China but they were still exported.

Information Technology Agreement (ITA) and theAgreement on Financial Services (FSA) have been fair trade deals for all invloved.

Republicans should be for Free and Fair trade with other countries where the playing field is even and use tarifs only when forced to.

Now, now, now! Let's not go rewriting history with Clinton coming out to be a hero! He wasn't, and he wasn't at all responsible for any of those things. the Republicans were the ones in control of both houses of Congress. THEY (the Republicans) pretty much did all of the things you've credited Clinton with doing.

I recall Reagan referring to tariffs as "protectionism". At the time, US made cars were the laughing stock of the automotive world. Reagan basically told US auto makers, "You want to compete with Toyota, you start building cars that will run like Toyotas." It took some time but US cars improved drastically.

As I remember it, these were conservative policies he supported and helped get passed. Show me where he vetoed any of these policies.

He was still a Democrat and had lots of libral policies but compared to democrats today he seems very moderate on fiscal policy.

I'm not a Clinton fan, but he was way better than what we have today.

His "veto" would have meant very little if it had been overridden, which any veto would have been...so essentially, he just followed what the Republicans wanted. Ever hear of a "lame duck POTUS?"

Lipservice...that's all that was. He may have increased some deportations, but, not many. I worked in warehouses and retail stores and lived in Minnesota where many illegals were allowed to stay in the country because they were doing jobs for less money than many American citizens would have done them for. I saw it firsthand. I also saw the immigration officers come into several places where my wife and I worked where they were supposed to arrest and start the deportation process of the illegals but were instead bringing in immigration attorneys to help them subvert the law of the land. Mr. Clinton wasn't to be believed any more on this than when he said, "I DID NOT have sex with that woman....Ms. Lewinsky."

If I went and looked, would I find his signature on those laws?
