Ev'rybody talk about a-hebb'n ain't a-gwyne dere.

This is such a poignant spiritual. For the most part, slaves weren't allowed shoes. It made it harder for them to run away, and it kept them to roads and clearings in full view on the plantations. (That's what I'm told, anyway.)

So comparing the feedom in Christ to having shoes...🙌🏼
