2 Cor 5: 17Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away. Behold, the new has come!

18All this is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19that God was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ, not counting men’s trespasses against them. And He has committed to us the message of reconciliation.

20Therefore we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ: Be reconciled to God.

What does Paul mean in VS:20 to be "reconciled to God"

What does Paul mean in VS:20 to be "reconciled to God"

He means that man in his natural, fallen state is hostile to God, but that God's work of redemption in Christ ends the hostility and makes peace between men and God:

But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility. (Eph. 2:13-16)

Christ reconciles sinners with God, taking enemies and turning them into friends. Paul's appeal is that this reconciliation is what God commands.
