R.T. Kendall is a Reformed, Charismatic, tongue speaking, Zionist, evangelical who was minister at Westminster Chapel in London for 25 years. In 1992 he told Martin Lloyd Jones that he believed the Charismatic Movement was the second Ishmael and was not the last work of God before the Second Coming. He believes the poison that killed the Charismatic Movement was Open Theism which many Charismatic leaders embraced. This is a very interesting interview to me because I knew very little to nothing about R.T. Kendall until watching this video.

7:09 He talks about the three main movements marking the Charismatic Movement.
7:34 He mentions that the Charismatic Movement was disassociated from old line Pentecostals like Assembly of God, Pentecostal Holiness and Church of God. It came from Presbyterian, Baptist and Episcopal denominations.
17:13 He says it died when one of the leaders of the Charismatic Movement introduced the false teaching of Open Theism into the movement.
18:01 He said when he was at Southern Baptist Seminary 40 years ago, they taught process theology.
19:47 He explains what Open Theism is.
22:59 He says the common denominator today among Charismatics is prosperity teaching.
24:34 He says there is no fear God and says the church is moving toward annihilation.
27:13 He says the way we align ourselves so that God really gets the glory, will be when there is a restoration of the sovereignty of God.
28:22 He talks about the meaning of the ten virgins and the midnight cry in Matthew 25.

From what I’ve researched he believes there will be a thousand year reign of Christ but I’m not sure about how he details it. I don’t have to agree with everything he says to believe that this is a very good interview and it goes to show that Christians can have differences on many subjects and yet not be totally disagreeable.

He either made a mistake on the year or I misunderstood him. Martin Lloyd Jones died in 1981 I see.

I take it that basic facts about the persons involved were not part of "from what I researched"?

I didn't research Martin Lloyd Jones. I misunderstood what was said on the video.

Interesting. Open Theism works "hand in glove" with the hyper-arminians and careless maniacs so there is no doubt that such heresy would take root within their ranks. I would say that the "Word of Faith" types are open theist in practice whether they acknowledge it or not.

You can certainly draw a strong analogy with Isaac and Ishmael where Isaac is God's providence and Ishmael is man trying to fulfil God's promises based upon his own understanding and wisdom. We certainly see this not only in the Charismatic movement but in much of modern (if not historic) evangelicalism where the onus is upon the Church to fulfill God's promises so that his will may be fulfilled. Such is evident among the Theonomists and Zionist groups.

As long as the right people are being killed, right?

We had a Pentecostal regular in the past who was sympathetic to Greg Boyd's open theism.
