Well, it ain’t like I go around seeking out abuse victims and asking them if they have forgiven their abuser. We’re on a forum discussing doctrinal issues. The whole point of discussing the Bible is to glorify God by understanding how to surrender our lives to his Lordship and areas that we are either ignorant of or rebellious towards. It’s that study (and discussion) of the word that should conform us to the image of Jesus. In regards to the discussion part that means sometimes we undoubtedly will disagree, but other times it’s going to mean that our behavior changes to conform to Christ and His teachings.
 
I think it's important to make the distinction between consentual statutary rape (17 year old and 18 year old perhaps) in a relationship and abuse of a younger child. I'm not justifing either but laws vary from state to state. I have read of a number of people who were charged and later married the girlfriend / victim. Minors must be protected, but I see two consenting older teens very differently than abuse of a much younger child. Both may be illegal, but one is abuse and the other may not be. In many states the age gap matters and in some it does not.
