    Thoughts on Lent

I remember one Ash Wednesday in SoCal we had an earthquake that wasn't strong enough to do much damage but still rattle some nerves, I saw a bunch of folks lining up at the Catholic church to get ashes smeared on their heads. I thought it was because of the earthquake. I didn't know it was Ash...

What do we think about Tim Keller?

If "OSAS" stuck to this standard, I wouldn't have an issue with it. It's when someone takes this idea to mean that as long as you have claimed your "fire insurance" with a prayer and a mental ascension of facts and calls it eternal security, that I take umbrage.

Noted, however, combat is the last place I would want to be wearing a skirt no matter how manly it is.

What do we think about Tim Keller?

I ascribe to some calvie tenants; I also ascribe to quote a few non calvie teachings. Where I agree with Calvinism centers around the total depravity of humans apart from the work of grace. I don't ascribe to irresistible grace or to a strict covenant theology when it comes to end times. I'm...

What do we think about Tim Keller?

I'm not saying that baptism isn't a big deal. It's basic obedience. If a new believer isn't interested in obeying the simplest commandment, that would be an indication that the life transforming work of salvation hasn't happened. Something else you say kinda raises a flag... Being a "Christian...

    MTG A Newly Minted RINO?

A pastor once told me, "Many churches pay their pastors to be good. Not me. I'm good for nothing!"

What do we think about Tim Keller?

As would I. However, the distinction goes far deeper than semantics. Salvation happens FIRST. Baptism happens AFTERWARDS. Baptism is a step of obedience which ought to happen soon after conversion. If the act of baptism is a requirement for salvation, then salvation is no longer a work of grace...

    Bathsheba's Sin?

The scriptures choose not to indict Bathsheba with any sin but charges David only. Splitting of the blame is not the intent of the narrative. When confronted with his sin, David didn't pull an Adam and say, "the woman you gave me". David took sole responsibility. The good news for us is that...

Welcome. We are a diverse group; some leaning towards progressivism, others leaning towards hardcore conservatism which makes for lively debates. Of late, most of the debates have centered on social and political issues and how people of faith ought to stand on the issues. I can definitely...

Jack Hyles died 25 years ago, today.

Not sure about today but back in the 80s it was the fad to have a big name preacher sign your Bible. Seen it lots of times, I never did it myself. I genuinely hope that fad has died out.
