My Memories of and Musings on HAC / FBCH

The one time that dancing was almost allowed at HAC was when the Bears were on the way to the Super Bowl. How so many IFB adherents knew the "Super Bowl Shuffle," I'll never know. Yes, I was (am) one of them.

    Why am I shocked?

Couldn't understand it. The Thursday night ladies thing went against all propriety we were instructed to have. The songs - the adoration....... Yes, he was the dad away from home some say. Anyway, I'm stirring the pot I'm sure.

My Memories of and Musings on HAC / FBCH

For about a year, after work I would go by Sauzers Restaurant across from Tiebels at 30 and 41. This was sometime maybe around 11PM. This was after curfew, and was definitely against the rules. I wonder how many demerits that all adds up to. Over the course of about a year.......

    Post-Mortem on John MacArthur

For some reason, since his passing, Billy Graham has become a saint with many of my IFB friends. I can only hope they will think the same of MacArthur.

Jerry Falwell interview before his passing

I think along that line every time I hear somebody say, "Before my grandma died she said........"

I never understood Speech Class. We were given topics to give speeches on. There were male student devotions each class, and we got grades. I got a C for the class. Oh well.

My Memories of and Musings on HAC / FBCH

I'm almost sure it was observed on a 1st Sunday morning most of the time. When there was a 5th Sunday (four times a year) it was observed on Sunday night. Hyles would occasionally mention it was to accommodate shift workers and also those who worked in the nursery on Sunday mornings. During my...

The administering of the Lord's Supper was a finely tuned display of reverence. You didn't leave wondering what happened.

Johnny Mac and RC Sproul Together Again!

There were a lot of snide remarks made by the IFB crowd about JM. Honestly, I was often challenged, convicted and inspired by what I heard from him.

My Memories of and Musings on HAC / FBCH

When I arrived at HAC, I did not know a soul. I knew who Gail Merhalski and Elaine Colsten were, but they had never seen me. Before the first chapel service a guy from Pennsylvania sat by me and explained what chapel was like. Never remember seeing him again.

My Memories of and Musings on HAC / FBCH

Fortunately it only lasted the first year and a few weeks into the second. During summer break I lost a brother in a car accident. A few Sunday nights/ early Monday mornings into the sophomore year, on the way from night bus, the driver in the car I was in fell asleep and almost lost control...
