"The saints" is a common name for Christians, i.e. the church. How come that isn't "saying so"? It comes down to whether you need to jump through a myriad of dispensational hoops to understand the Bible properly. I do not believe that to be the case.

It doesn't. Christ says that believers and unbelievers belong together in the world until the judgment, at which point the believers are gathered, and the unbelievers destroyed. That's pretty simple, and it can't be shoehorned into a particular eschatology, to the exclusion of all others.
