Let's talk about the word "standards"

It doesn't. It gives guidance for proper dress. You're so hung up on dresses and who wants to use them as their standard of dress for women that, once again you're straining at a gnat. Seems like you spend a LOT of time doing that! And guidance isn't just for women, The standard for most IFB...

What are you listening to right now?

    My 3 Labrador Retrievers snoring!

Let's talk about the word "standards"

Hogwash! If they are saying that you won't get to heaven unless you do these things, THAT makes them a cult. If you don't like what they're preaching, instead of being DIVISIVE, go to another church where the beliefs and standards are more lax.

I don't believe he has to twist anything. Again, you're continuing to strain at a gnat.

Let's talk about the word "standards"

The pastor is obligated to preach and teach about modest dress. He can say what he believes those standards should be. Just because he preaches on the issue as he believes it should be doesn't mean he can enforce it 100 percent. It is ultimately up to every individual to decide on what they...

This really saddens and almost sickens me.

It is indeed a sad thing. We have several family members who are in "churches" like these, and even though I'm not IFB MILITANT fundamentally like David Cloud or others, having moderated some of my viewpoints while still within BIBLICAL guidelines, I'm considered by them to be a MILITANT...

And ALAYMAN hasn't said you should, so why try to make an issue when the Bible is very clear.?

Sin is sin, Brother. Yes, there are sins that are of a more serious nature than others. Still, the point is this, that you don't know what sin anyone has committed unless it comes to light. You very well could have a pedophile in your midst that you know nothing about. It happens, and has...

Let's talk about the word "standards"

I truly wish we had an Evangelical Free church in our area, but nobody wants to plant one here. My wife and I no longer attend a Baptist church instead going to a church that split from the United Methodists a couple of years ago over their decision to accept homosexuals as pastors. My friends...

Let's talk about the word "standards"

When they have only ONE verse on a certain subject and try to make it a major doctrine they're a cult. The first Baptist college I went to was like that. I never did get to graduate from it at that time. I was just suspended my first semester of the first year for standing up during chapel...

Let's talk about the word "standards"

Having STANDARDS for such positions doesn't make them a cult. You've got one twisted, WARPED set of values and opinions. You say they go to one extreme, yet YOU go to the other and don't see yourself as a cult member? UGH!!!

    Kenny Baldwin

I very well can and have used that logic. You may as well not have your wife and daughter go to church then, because they might already be sitting next to a pedophile, adulterer, or even a murderer. You NEVER can tell. I also noticed that you avoided a bunch in my previous post.... typical...

This really saddens and almost sickens me.

I know you're joking around here, but you know that's a bunch of horse droppings! We've got a Community Church in a town we used to live in that has a lesbian couple as co-pastors. They were pushing this tripe 20+ years ago and now have a church full of homosexuals, deviants, and unsaved people.

Let's talk about the word "standards"

I know of MANY IFB churches that ARE NOT a cult, though like you I have attended many that were. So, once again, "Bruh", let's throw the baby out with the bathwater.... UGH,!!!
  16. AverageJoe

    Kenny Baldwin

So, which is it, "Bruh," women or children? Someone who goes after children usually doesn't go after women. And men who go after women usually don't go after children. I believe it's like @ALAYMAN said, you just want your pound of flesh. You are conjoining two totally different things, though...

Let's talk about the word "standards"

I grew up in a church that was so legalistic that they wouldn't let a man who smoked teach a SS class, sing in the choir, sing a special, or even take up the offering as an usher. They browbeat my dad so much that he eventually went off the rails, decided to throw off the "standards" enforced...

Franklin Graham’s evangelism in his commercials

I know a LOT of people who accepted the Lord using those "canned prayers." Did they have evidence of repentance and true salvation? Most of them YES...many of them NO. It's not up to us to decide at the very beginning whether their prayer was "official." ;)
