As far as “mechanical sounds, tones, and chords”, just like ABCDEFG is amoral, string them into sentences and they suddenly take on a moral tone. Same with music.
“Sufficient for all, efficient for the elect” is a longstanding slogan by Calvinists to describe the issue you are talking about. They might likewise express it as “Christ’s atonement was limited in its intent or purpose, but it was unlimited in its power.” 😊
It really was not ad hominem, but rather a little bit of head-scratching that you would glean support from such questionable sources while chasing your obsession.
I know a godly young man ready to go on the mission field who likes Christian metal. It is an exercise in cognitive dissonance in my estimation, but his testimony is solid. I just can’t fathom how that sound is God honoring.
His narcissistic personality gets in his way, but to spin that into 4D chess, his grandiose populism and behavior seems to have more people than ever interested in and talking about politics. 😉
