Are Bon Fires Essential to Christianity?

One good question deserves another.

If NIV's, ESV's, etc are used for kindling, then they are not "essential", but appreciated.

Are bonfires essential to Christianity?  Depends on what denomination - the Roman Catholic Church needed them to burn people at the stake.

1431 - The Roman Catholic Church has Joan of Arc burned at the stake.
1456 - The committee of Roman Catholic theologians appointed by the Pope determines that it was a mistake to have Joan of Arc burned at the  stake - OOPS!
1920 - The Roman Catholic Church officially declares Joan of Arc to have been a saint.

I believe John Calvin burned a few too.

Yes, thanks, but we already knew KJV-onlyists were extremists, book-burners, and Nazis.

The Church of England did a lot of heretic burning as well though the Church of England was basically Catholic (except for the divorce thing - q.v. King Henry VIII).

Why not? We had to evolve from the sawdust trail...
