Yup. Popular saying back in the day. Not sure what inspired what or if both the drawing and the song came from the same source. The artwork is from the same S.F. scene that the Grateful Dead came from.does that song have any relation to the vintage t-shirts that have this logo on them?... ..i saw this one on ebay but they wanted too much money for it.... and it;s kinda faded out anyway.....

Edit
Here's a bit of history. BTW, the T-shirt in the picture is likely an unauthorized knock off of the original comic.

my dad let his cdl expire too... . plus all of his paramedic licenses and other job certifications too in past 2 years.... .... he had a ton of cards for all kinds of things related to medical work - commercial diving - ship rigging etc... ... . i remember the continual recerts could be a pain in the butt... most of them involved a physical which he does not like going through... . i use to go with him when he did his paramedic recerts like advanced cardiac life support - haz mat and trauma life support etc.... and even got certified in acls myself at one time when i was in pre-med - as a requirement for emergency room clinicals.... but after that i just went with him coz i always learned a lot of new stuff there and was fascinated by it....As for truckin', I don't do that. I'm bussin'. I plan to do that till I'm 65. I'll have my CDL for two years after that. I'm open to some subbing, maybe, but after my CDL expires at age 67, NO MORE. Carrying a CDL for 44 years will be plenty for me.
My favorite Dead song.
Which isn't saying much.
I had one of those. And the guy who made the song famous, Peter Accardi, got saved, and became a Baptist evangelist. He was the preacher when I got saved.does that song have any relation to the vintage t-shirts that have this logo on them?... ..i saw this one on ebay but they wanted too much money for it.... and it;s kinda faded out anyway.....

Interesting fella. Caught a couple snippets of his preachin'... visually, he went from a long hair hippy in the 70s to a clean cut Baptist preacher in the 80s to a long hair longer beard biker looking type last year.I had one of those. Independent Baptist, lover of Hyles, Old school, King James only preacher. But he did preach the gospel clearly all those years ago.Interesting fella. When I get some time, I'll evaluate his preeeechin'.
Wow that's a transformation... I'm kinda curious about the long hair and beard bit... I thought a KJVO Hyles type would eschew such an appearance.Independent Baptist, lover of Hyles, Old school, King James only preacher. But he did preach the gospel clearly all those years ago.
i didn;t know that.... but i guess it;s another good reason i should be glad i didn;t buy one of those vintage shirts and try to wear it..... .... i don;t know much about the grateful dead.... however i do know that the image of the girl between the green haired weirdo and the skeleton in the artwork on the video comes from the "birth of venus" by sandro botticelli....The song and cartoon come from the same era. But the song "Truckin'" is about the Grateful Dead being on tour (literally trucking around the country). On the other hand, the Robert Crumb cartoon depicted on the T-shirt is part of a larger comic depicting the lyrics of "Truckin' My Blues Away," a 1936 blues song by Blind Boy Fuller, in which "truckin'" seems to be a euphemism for ... well, something else.
He had long hair back then, but short hair and a long beard now.Wow that's a transformation... I'm kinda curious about the long hair and beard bit... I thought a KJVO Hyles type would eschew such an appearance.
