I think the closet we’ve ever had was Jimmy Carter, and even though he subscribed to liberal theology, he made it a point to at least try to be honest and decent while being a professing believer.

I know he became more liberal in his theology later in life, but during his political years, he was a pretty staunch Southern Baptist, at least from what I understand.

Trump is a CAD of the most rank sort, he’s morally repugnant. I’ll be glad whenever there’s a more diplomatic choice that fills the office and I hope that we are able to pull that off in the next election despite Trump‘s baggage. With all that in mind, I agree with Tarheel, I’d still choose him over the alternatives. How sad is that that this is the choices that we have?
