Here’s a question: would you be more comfortable sending your child to a Catholic college or a CoC college?
I have experience with a Catholic college, in a way. Many Canadian universities, mine (the University of Waterloo) included, have denominational colleges affiliated with them--similar to the way a British university like Oxford or Cambridge is a federation of colleges, but more centralized. The university confers the degree, and the church colleges teach at least some of the courses.
I estimate that one-third to one-half of my English and philosophy courses were offered through St. Jerome's College rather than the arts faculty at the university proper.
I have no complaints about the quality of the courses offered at St. Jerome's. There's always a risk that a nominally Catholic institution will be "Catholic in name only," but a good number of my profs were pretty conservative in their views.
I have no experience with CoC institutions, but I find myself more naturally skeptical of such a narrowly sectarian school, for whatever reason.
