Maybe it's a difference of platforms. I'm posting from a Windows 7 PC using Firefox, not from a phone using Tapatalk. (I don't even know what Tapatalk is.)

I'm seeing the same results as FSSL on my antique tablet. I'd say smileys work fine, but the software is just inconsistent about whether it recognizes them with a nose or not.
Ransom, I think you're right. I just checked on my Amazon Fire tablet, and I see them there. But not at all on Windows 7 and Firefox.
