I mentioned elsewhere that I find fully clothed women more attractive than naked ladies.  So here's an example.  Call me crazy, but if I saw Liu Wen standing in the middle of a strip club with lots of naked ladies, my eyes would be drawn immediately to her, instead.  Not to lust, but to admire her beauty.  Naked ladies trying to act lewd to incite lust just does nothing for me.

I could post dozens of other examples.  I chose this one, because she's not only fully clothed, she's covered even more by coat and scarf.

I prefer beauty over sexuality.  Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, too.  My wife is the most gorgeous woman alive, to me.

ADDED:  I just love beauty, period.  I love beautiful scenery.  Flowers.  Lush green environments.  The beach and ocean.  When I was into photography (the whole nine yards - enlarger, developed everything myself), 99% of the photographs were flowers.  Sometimes I'm sorry I gave away all my old large prints (I used Cibachrome, because I liked the color saturation and contrast).

Granted, nude women can be beautiful, too, and not incite lust.  That's why there's a category of fine art nudity.  But that's just not my preferred subject for beauty.

I'm not criticizing those who are inclined to lust if they see naked women.  Just pointing out that we have different weaknesses.  Don't assume everyone has yours, and I won't assume everyone has mine.

When it comes to nakedness, the first couple experienced "shame." It is the basic response of nakedness within sin-cursed humanity.

Those who pretend that nakedness does not effect them are: 1) dishonest; or 2) have their consciences so conditioned by looking at nudity that they are self-deceived.

This is an absurd thread. The phrase "fine art" does not change the morality of the piece.

Interesting thought...

...neither my wife nor I feel shame when we see each other naked. Must be our self-deception.

...pay no attention to Jewish myths or to the merely human commands of those who reject the truth. 15 To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted. 16 They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.

..It's alright for believers to observe public nudity whether in movies...ect, and it will have no effect on their lives.

3 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 6 For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

At least you're honest. Hopefully you'll pray for me that I'll see the truth before it's too late.

When you see a big satchel of money laying around ripe for the taking in a movie, do you lust for it?  Does that affect your Christian life?

Lots of people lust for money even more than they lust for sex, you know.  You know, that, right?  So would they lust for money they see in a movie?

People also lust for fame & power. I'm not sure what this has to do with what me or FSSL said. If you believe the nakedness that infiltrates our society has no effect on it and doesn't have any effect on the elect/redeemed in no way whatsoever then we'll just have to disagree.......... Since what you quoted from II Tim chap 3 has nuttin to do with what we're talkin about one could assume it was aimed at me. So as I said pray for me

I have FSSL on ignore.  I don't know or care what he said.

The purple quote was not directed at you.

Just answer the question.  When you see a big satchel of money laying around ripe for the taking in a movie, do you lust for it?  Does that affect your Christian life?  If not, why not?

I'm expecting you to say, no, you wouldn't lust for it.  I'm really interested in the reason why you wouldn't.  No matter how you answer that, you will make my point for me.

I mean, I suppose you could surprise me and say you WOULD lust for it, but I'm not expecting you to say that.

Nope. It's just skin.

Bump.  In case you missed it or are too busy.  If you don't want to answer, that's fine, just say so.

We live in a fat-shaming culture, so I would feel shame now (I wish I could just ignore it, but that's just how it is for me).

But when I was young and fit, I wore a speedo-style suit to the beach with no shame, and that's as close to being naked as I can imagine.

By the way, here's the definition.  The fat thing is really just the second definition.

a?shamed

synonyms: sorry, shamefaced, abashed, sheepish, guilty, contrite, remorseful, repentant, penitent, regretful, rueful, apologetic; More

There we are... Here is our answer.

No matter what the Bible says, there will be no acceptance of the truth that it is a shameful thing to expose ourselves in public.

I think these posters are just dishonest.

No wonder pornography is redefined as "fine art."

Maybe we just don't read your Victorian understanding of modesty into texts written thousands of years before that era...

...but the "gracious" answer is to just call us liars. It's no wonder you won't acknowledge your part in the earlier debacle.

Maybe you just redefine the word "naked."

In Hebrew, millennia before the Victorian era, Adam and Eve's nakedness meant to be without clothes.

In other OT contexts, the same word was used of those who were underdressed.

In your world, nakedness is "just skin." Until you start walking down the streets of Nashville in your underwear (not even totally naked) your post above was dishonest.***

***the gracious thing to do is to use the word I used. I use "liar" far more sparingly.

Interesting...

Ding! Ding! Ding! Thus the statement about my wife and I seeing each other naked. Shame is not intrinsic to nakedness, and you apparently seem to think so. Instead you tried to tell me that what I think wasn't really what I think, and you know my thoughts better than I do... See also: hubris.

In other OT contexts, the same word was used of those who were underdressed.

So?

In your world, nakedness is "just skin."

Yes...that is the definition that Merriam Webster provides. Or you could redefine the word...

Until you start walking down the streets of Nashville in your underwear (not even totally naked) your post above was dishonest.***

See also: moving the goalposts. The question was whether I would feel shame in doing so, not whether I would or not for other practical reasons. But go ahead and call me a liar because you don't recognize the difference.

***the gracious thing to do is to use the word I used. I use "liar" far more sparingly.

Yup...I get that. Also get that you didn't have any responsibility at all for the meltdown over the last few days. See again: hubris.
