Throughout this country there are countless "preachers" standing in the pulpits of America claiming....
"God gave me" this to share with you.
Why don't we point out the obvious. The message isn't God gave me, the message is God gave US. God HAS GIVEN US.
Which brings me to a few points I've made in other threads recently. What will never change among IFBs and big "B" baptists is this very practice. In Reformed circles, you hardly ever anything like this. The reason you don't is because they're accustom to just declaring the Scriptures. They don't try to "sell" their message with "God gave me"... such and such. Their message is the message of old. Its doesn't require Divine Intervention at every turn to declare the Scriptures.
Recently, I've witnessed several "preachers' admit just how mistaken they've been for DECADES about certain things. What they didn't retract is the fact they sold those things in the "name of God". In the name of "God gave me".
One of the greatest changes that needs to take place in American pulpits is the acknowledgement that the man standing there is nothing more than a fellow believer in Christ. He is often right and he is often wrong. He has no authority to dictate anything in your lives. You already have a Master and He is so much better than them.
