What are the ways that you handle disagreements with other Christians?

With this being a forum with many different viewpoints, how do you handle others when they take it too far and attempt to make it personal?

How do you handle others who when given the facts as you see them they just don't get it? Do you ignore them, keep going etc?

To sum it up what are your thoughts or stories about dealing with other Christians who disagree or have disagreed with you.

I strive to keep it about the issues and facts and hand, and I do my best to keep from attacking someone personally.

Coming from my background, we argue (in a friendly fashion) aggressively and we don't pull punches (without it resorting to personal attack!). If I see a hole in your logic or your "facts" aren't factual, you get called on it. Yet, afterwards, all of us are ready to fire up the bbq, open a beverage, and throw horseshoes.

I have no problem at all with disagreements. The last thing we need is uniformity. But we do need unity, and that means we should strive to be gracious to all and show respect and kindness to even those we disagree with most strongly. :)

My strategy is to call the other person a poopy-head and then run away.

I originally wrote a pretty long post, but I gave up after a while and went with the above.

admin thank you for keeping us in line and having a good spirit about it.
I very rarely argue with people.. I ask the Lord to keep me quiet and learn . I've been called names but I answer to God not people.... I want to be an example

I like the back-and-forth of a good debate.  I strive to be respectful, but I must admit, I do not always succeed.  There was an instance on this forum that I posted something that didn't resemble in any fashion the love of Christ.  I was called on it.  Although I was quick to apologize and even modify my post, the damage had already been done.  I regret my words.  Just like in real life, I can't take those words back.

While some... think its not alright to call people "stupid" or a "moron"..... these same people will readily throw around terms such as Heretics, Apostates and right on down the line. They don't have any problem perverting what you say. They'll lie and disparage someone all in the name of "God's divine judgement". Doesn't seem to bother them one bit.

A smack in the mouth usually does the trick!

I'm kidding. I love a good debate that doesn't cross the line without name calling or profanities or obtuse being used too much! ;)
