Hawaiian Fisherman Kicks Tiger Shark In The Head After It Attacks His Kayak

few things can ruin your fishing trip like a tiger shark.... .... at least the makos and ocean white tips tend to focus on what you are reeling in.. and try to take it off your line.. . ....but tiger sharks have a reputation for this kind of thing... .the guy was lucky he didn;t lose his foot - or half his leg....

I'm sure those choice words he let out in the moment the shark nailed his kayak were similar to the ones this principal at a nearby elementary school said when he encountered wildlife native to our area....

Looks like the bear had similar choice words. I'm just curious as to what raised the principals suspicion to go poking around the dumpster in the first place. What did he think he'd find?

That is why you need to use the buddy system when hunting bear. Just make sure you can run faster than the buddy you take with you.

and probably similar to the choice words i have tried to let out (with a blast of bubbles through a snorkel mouthpiece 🤿 ).. whenever we were spearfishing and a moray eel poked it;s head out of the reef.... .😲...of course they are not as big as a tiger shark or a bear - but it doesn;t matter.... they all have a mouth full of teeth and they like to bite things....😬

.
*but on an edit and side note to this.... it;s a good thing the fishermans instinctive kick landed close to the sharks eye.... all creatures - no matter how fierce or fearless they seem - naturally protect their own eyes, and retreat when their eyes are threatened..... but a kick in any other part of a sharks body would cause it to turn towards the kicker in a natural counter attack.... and sharks in attack mode can move lightning fast....

bang sticks were invented to defend against sharks... but i wonder if they would work on a bear?. ...... not sure i would want to let one get close enough to find out.... but i guess it could work on making your hunting buddy slow down - just in case it turned out he could run faster than you....:sneaky:

In the sporting goods stores, they sell 180 gr. .357 magnum "bear loads". 158 gr. is the standard .357 magnum load. Not that I ever intentionally put myself in a situation where I need to use my weapon on a charging bear, I would count my weapon as better than nothing.

He was walking around the container and removing the safety device installed to keep critters and bears out, lol.

i saw emergency bear kits like the one below for sale in a cabelas back when we went bowhunting in
washington for elk... it;s basically just a 500 smith and wesson in a pelican case - with a orange rubber
grip that the ad claimed helped soften the recoil..... but the whole set up seemed kinda weird to me..
why have something you might need to deploy with only a split second notice locked away in a case?....

which would then most likely get buried under other gear in the camp?.... ...and i don;t know what the
rest of that "emergency" gear is in there for... coz if that gun doesn;t solve the bear problem is not likely
you will need any of that other gear.... ... or anything else for that matter - ever again.... o_O

the outiftter and guide that set us up for hunting that year loaned us a winchester 338 mag rifle as a
back up just in case a bear came out of hibernation and decided to come after us - which he said was

highly unlikely, but he wore a ruger redhawk 44 magnum in a holster as his own protection against bears
all the same.. ..said he had never had to use it for such... .but it gave him some comfort to have it... ;)

An S&W .500. For "emergencies." Of course.

I swear, officer, that watermelon was coming straight for me.
