I Saw Santa Punching Arius

This is for real - Santa really did slug Arius.

'Twas the Council of Nicaea
And all through the house
Not a creature could believe it
When Santa punched Arius in the mouth"

In the event that the slugging did take place, what would have been a snappy comeback remark by Arius?

"Santa, you sleigh me!"

Eastern Orthodox churches celebrate Christmas on January 7, so why is everybody so early? Christmas Day is a public holiday on 7 January in Eastern Europe in Belarus, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia and Russia, as well as in Georgia and Kazakhstan. In north-east Africa, it is on 7 January in Egypt and Ethiopia, and in Armenia it is 6 January. Ukraine just switched from Jan. 7 to Dec. 25, so they had Christmas twice this year.

December 6 isn't Christmas. It's St. Nicholas Day. Christmas is Christ's feast day.

The European tradition of giving gifts on December 6 in honor of Nicholas of Myra got blended with Christmas in North America in the 19th century, in no small part thanks to the influence of writers such as Washington Irving and Clement Clarke Moore ("'Twas the Night Before Christmas") on American folklore.

St. Nick brought me a new tablet. Still need to teach it to spell "honour" properly.
