IFB and the need for biblical preaching.

Great post.

You may not know, but we travel the US in a RV. There is a problem in the pulpits, generally. Pastors do not use their Bibles. This is true of fundamental, evangelical and various churches.

After church, I would ask my teenage girls, "What was the text he preached from. Do you understand it better?"

There were some that did a good job. Unfortunately, they were the minority, not the majority. I even went to a MacArthur church plant expecting some good exposition. Nada... the guy made up his own meanings for the Greek words.

Generarlly, Pastors do not trust Scripture.

Generally, Pastors do not trust Scripture because they do not know the Scriptures.

I hate to say it, but it now seems that more sermons discourage me than help me.

I suspect that is because the message isn't about hope. Only about performance. And there is never enough performed.

IFB pastors have always preached the Bible.  Matter of fact, we invented it.....

I agree with this and not only about hope. Little has to do with God even though they mention Him a lot. Most of it is very man-centered.
