IRONY!??!??

If you got the love of the Spirit, it's ok to hate haters.  Got it.

I have trouble keeping up with all the new rules.

Thanks, I too have trouble with the new rules, as much as I did the old ones.  I am clear now...well maybe! :)

I don't get that at all.  :o

If you're referring to my mindless ramblings, that's a line from the Who's "Won't be Fooled Again"- just the first thing that popped into my mind.

If you're referring to the twerp in the video, I'm sorry but I can't help you there....

All I can say is the the twerp is every bit the egomaniac as any of his "haters."

Indeed...I know I have.  Let's hope he has enough wisdom to recognize such.

I must admit Tony Campolo, as much as I disagree with just about everything he says, handled this subject much better.  It's been almost 30 years so I can't remember much about his speech, but he got you all built up to hate on stuck-up yuppies (and he drew me right in, because I was very anti-yuppie at the time) ... and then turned it around and made you realize how prejudiced that attitude is.

My personal favorite of Campolo's was his introduction detailing how 30,000 kids died of starvation or malnourishment while we slept last night.

And you don't give a ...... !

Cutting edge at the time. Too many wannabes out there now trying to catch that lightning in a new bottle. Tis the source of all the "relevant" coarseness theses days IMO.

Are you deliberately making his point for him?

I felt he had a valid point. I don't believe that every preacher needs to use coarse language to make a point that has been made (famously BTW) or emulate that technique. Put another way, tossing in the "surprise" potty mouth words doesn't come across as cutting edge or relevant, it sounds desperate and trite.
