I love that the Liberian Pastor lined out the whole of Western "Christianity", calling them "Liberal elites".

Let them break up. Easier to see the goats when they aren't hiding among the sheep.

It's not quite a done deal yet - the final vote will be today.  Also, there is last minute political maneuvering going on such as is the plan in line with the United Methodist constitution (among other things).  I have watch quite a bit of the proceedings online and I have seen evil in the name of Christ in abundance.

It is a wonderful thing that such a mainline denomination took a stand for Biblical sexuality and morals, but the UMC is in for some real messy <property> battles now.  They need our prayers, because there inevitably will be some real baby Christians caught in the crossfire and will become very real collateral damage.

Did Smellin' write this?

Some congregations are angry and accusative, saying that what has taken place is anti-Christian.  Others are rejoicing because biblical principles and morality are in place.  The only thing that happened was that the standards of the past were upheld but now the consequences will be have some teeth in them and will be enforced.  The article that Twisted posted shows the liberal (or "progressive") attitude.  At the Conference itself you could see the hatred just dripping off of some these people and now they are writing articles such as this.  The truth is that if a homosexual (or any sinner) is repentant and puts their faith in Jesus Christ as both Savior and Lord they will be welcomed into the membership of the United Methodist Church.

As a Baptist in exile in a conservative UMC church, it's not that the conservatives won this one, just that they didn't lose.  The progressives are already plotting their next offensive, and a local pastor here got his walking papers by making some intemperate statements on social media.  Another UMC megachurch that takes a liberal stance on LGBT issues tried to rent a building just around the block from the main campus of the conservative megachurch I attend.  The Conference told the liberals "no dice, find another place".

Part of what's under consideration at this point is how to avoid the messy property battles, since it's a no-brainer that some faction is leaving.  The traditionalists included in their plan, that passed at GC 2019, a plan for a "Gracious Exit" which requires churches departing the UMC over this within a certain time frame to pay a certain percentage of their apportionment (the UMC's version of the SBC Cooperative Program).
