Mistaken Identity?

Why do you ask?
BUF is a real college. Formerly called Florida Baptist College, but changed names a couple years ago. This North Florida Baptist College doesn’t even seem to be an actual college. Thought maybe the intention was BUF. Clear enough for ya?

No mistaken identity here. North Florida Baptist College is North Florida Baptist College - no connection whatsoever with BUF. As to whether NFBC is an actual college, or even close to it, you be the judge - check out their web site. Of 19 listed faculty members, 6 are Hyles-Anderson College grads.

For more info, check out the previous threads in this section, especially the "Before you consider this college" thread. You may also want to research the threads in the "Berean Baptist College" section - this was a predecessor to NFBC.

The reason I was asking is because I wasn't sure what you were getting at. I looked up the link and didn't find anything out of line; it all looked legit, so I was curious.

This North Florida Baptist College had zero reviews on Google. Online, it appears to be a church called Immanuel Baptist Church, not an actual college.

Baptist University of Florida is an actual accredited college with dorms, athletics, and actual buildings. It’s a Southern Baptist school. I’m planning a visit with my daughter. It’s one of a handful of small religious colleges in Florida we’re visiting that she’s interested in, so I was hoping there was a mistake about the listing on the forum that could be corrected.

Florida has a ton of “colleges” that aren’t real colleges, particularly if they are religiously affiliated. There are probably a half dozen within fifty miles of my house that are nothing more than church sponsored academic clubs called “college.” I suppose it’s the way the Florida Constitution is written that allows these organizations to label themselves as higher education, most likely just for tax purposes. They all tend to have one thing in common though: non-accredited degrees.
