hawaii is trying to do the same thing.... bills were introduced in the legislature to raise the legal smoking age every year until it reaches 100.... which might be good news for new zealanders who want to smoke some day.... all they would have to do is reach the age of 100 and travel to hawaii....

the bill has yet to pass either house.... but it comes up every year... ... trouble is even if it never passes - they keep on banning smoking in so many public places each year ...and even residential buildings whether you own your unit or not.. until eventually you will have to get on a boat and travel beyond the 12 mile limit to light up....
it;s the same here.... and yet only a few short years ago... during the obama administration - the guy everybody thought was going to legalize pot.... .government helicopters under a program called green harvest, were flying over the rainforest daily looking for tell tale signs of marijuana plots hidden under the jungle canopy.... . and if they found one they directed dea agents on the ground to it;s location so they could tear all the plants out and confiscate it.... ....their plan was to also make arrests.. but those growers were not dumb enough to be hanging around when the agents got there.... so as far as i know nobody ever got arrested... ...now people are back to growing it again... ..but with licenses to do so....But interestingly, states are getting more relaxed with pot smoking every year.
i don;t smoke either... never have.... . (unless you count that one really bad time i took a deep drag on a cigar in an effort to convince someone else to stop smoking)
... .... but my avatar smokes.... didn;t know it at the time i picked it, but i must have been sub-consciously voicing my support for the freedom of all smokers to light up.. .. 
... wow... maybe i was even supporting underage smoking... 
... .but only in certain cultures of course....
