If this actually gets underway and God does not intervene with fire and earthquakes like He did in the days of Julian the Apostate, then the revelation of the Man of Sin is at hand...and you look in vain for a fabled Rapture to rescue you from the persecution to follow.

In the apostle Paul’s eschatological epistle of 2 Thessalonians he addresses the Second Coming of Christ and its relationship to the Christian. In his first epistle Paul warned the Thessalonians that the day of the Lord would come as a thief in the night with sudden destruction coming upon the world (1 Thess 5:1-5) and since they were already suffering persecution many probably thought they had missed the gathering of the saints Paul talked about in 1 Thess 4:13-17.

2 Thess 4:5-10

4, So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:
5, ¶ Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:
6, Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;
7, And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
8, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
9, Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
10, When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.

The tribulations which all saints in all ages must endure (not just in the last generation – cf. Acts 14:22; 2 Tim 3:12) are from men (v. 6). The future tribulation at the Second Coming of Christ will be visited “in flaming fire on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ” (v. 8).

As of right now the Jews are still judicially blinded by God but at the return of Christ their eyes will be opened.

Zech 12:9-10 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

There can be disagreements on whether Christians will be involved in the terrible tribulations found in the book of Revelation but from chapter 4 onward the Church is not found, only Israel. Instead of showing contempt and ridicule for the Jews we should pray for them that their eyes will be opened.
