My sister, Becky, is Mayor Pro Tempore of Pekin, Il,, and is acting in the capacity of mayor since the mayor just resigned to take another job. She is running for mayor, and has been removed from the ballot, but, later was placed back onto the ballot by a circuit court judge. The city of Pekin thought for a long time that residents had to have their sidewalks clean of snow because of the ADA, which they later found out wasn't true. This measure eliminates the false directive by others to the City of Pekin. I have to say that I'm pretty proud of my baby sister. She's been a true Christian through all of the things the Pekin City election commission handed her, being removed from the ballot while the mayor was already backing another candidate helped in the vote to remove her. Thank the Lord he's resigned.
Why Pekin residents were saved from required snow shoveling duties
Residents of Pekin no longer will be required to shovel snow from their sidewalks, the city council voted.
