Has my vote for being the most obnoxious "Worship" band ever!

Is Planet Shakers Church as messed up as Hillsong United?

What makes you say such?

They've been around for over 25 years but I've never heard of them. I did a lookup.

Other than a gothish looking girl in a picture, they don't appear any different than any other young modern worship team. There is a skeleton in their closet: a former member who faked cancer as a cover for a pornography addiction. Are you personally aware of anything else in their past or present?

I'm personally not big on these modern worship teams... not my cup o'tea. But then, they never hired me as a producer. If they did, they'd sound a lot different.

They are about as irritating as nails on a chalkboard!

One of our younger worship leaders insists upon using them and I guess I just may be too much of an old fart but I want stuff to have a bit more musical (and doctrinal) substance.

I have successfully lobbied against the use of Hillsong United, Bethel, and Elevation Worship but I guess I cannot instill a good taste in music among those in our worship team! Not a hill I wish to die on though.

It just may be getting about time to retire my Stratocaster.

I hope you don't retire the Strat. We need these young whippersnappers to hear good music.

Frankly, there are precious few Christian bands who don't shun the minor pentatonic or blues scales that make music sound so good. But then again, our predecessors lodged the same complaints about us.

As for Hillsong, et al, I know our worship team draws from that well. I know little about them but they might accidentally produce something that's is of sound biblical significance and that is the stuff we use. I am grateful our worship team avoids the painfully repetitive and the me me me I I I centered self worship for the most part.

As for musical skill, I've said before, I'd stand our worship team up with anything Nashville can put up. I believe it is in large part due to our bassist who is as professional as they come. His leadership ties that whole team together and makes everyone a great musician. Their arrangements sometimes sound almost nothing like the songs they cover... IMNSHO they can take the mundane and turn it into gold.
