ALAYWIFE was bitten by a tick a month or so ago. She had the classic bullseye which probably meant Lyme disease. Worse, a variant called alpha-gal can be a lifelong debilitating disease, which means you can't eat any mammalian meat at all without suffering violent nausea. She tested positive for it today. She's really bummed. Prayers for her would be appreciated.

That is a bummer! Salmon is tastier anyway, and what they're doing with plant protein these days is amazing.

I'm definintely praying, my friend. My wife and I had a friend who had lyme's disease...the strain that caused heart damage. That was back in 1990. It was a struggle for her for several years, but, she did well in time.

Brother I will pray for her. Give me her name and I will add her to my weekly prayer list. You can email me at

We are going on vacation next week. You know how you splurge a little on food intake vacation. It's part of the hidden joy of "diet-cheating" for a short while. This vacation will be the opposite of that. Imagine eating a food somebody else prepared thinking you were being safe and avoiding puking, only to have your body scream "you shouldn't have eaten that"!

She is still struggling with the changes and figuring how to proceed. She's tough, and full of faith, so I'm sure we'll get it straightened out. Thanks for all the prayers.

Yes, that's one avenue that I thought I'd never entertain since I am a huge carnivore (and that's bolstered by my type 2 diabetes), but I hope that stuff really is a good substitute, for her sake. She's not near as much of a meat-eater as me, but alternating constantly between turkey and chicken gets old fast.
