Quitting vs Resigning

That's all nice and sanitary.

Sometimes you just need to quit. As in turn in your keys and walk out the door. I did that once. I actually did it on a Monday because I gave my word that I'd cover an extra shift over the weekend. That place was a hell hole. Not because of the work but because of the caustic environment and feeling like I was treading on eggshells all the time. If I showed any initiative, I invariably ticked someone off and ended up in HR with a write-up telling me what I did wrong. If I kept to just my tasks, I was chided for lack of initiative.

I had had enough. I walked in on a Monday morning, turned in my keys, turned around and walked out. As I got in my car I felt like a burden had been lifted from me. Three hours later, I landed another job.

That's my Johnny Paycheck story.
