If a church hires a pastor who claims to want to settle down with his family and then turns around and resigns a couple of years later because "God is calling me elsewhere", is there a proper congregational response? Asking for a friend.

Was the man "hired" (that's another issue) because he said he wanted to "settle down" there? Too many unknowns about this.
