Trump Beats DeSantis in Landslide at CPAC Straw Poll https://link.theepochtimes.com/mkt_...c-straw-poll_5100156.html?utm_source=andshare

Donald Trump emerged as the clear winner in the highly anticipated straw poll conducted by the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), cementing his position as the preferred candidate of the Republican grassroots in his bid for the White House in 2024 with a commanding lead of 62 percent.

Trump easily surpassed his nearest rival, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who secured only 20 percent of the votes. This outcome was not unexpected, as Trump has been the top pick in the past five CPAC straw polls, which serve as a barometer of attendees’ presidential preferences.

Polls don’t mean a darn thing this early. You should know that because nearly every poll had Clinton beating Trump up throu Election Day

It shows is message is resonating among Conservatives.

You mean his message is resonating with those who've swallowed his Kool-Aid, and whiney butt ways! Sorry, not me!

If Trump is the Republican nominee, I will vote for him. If DeSantis gets the nomination, I will vote for him. I would vote for practically anyone running against the sleazeball occupying the White House right now!

I’m pretty sure you’re preaching to the choir, Bud.

Interesting.

I like to watch true crime shows. I watched one a while back about the murder of a man named Kevin Hughes that occurred in the Nashville music scene. The murder occurred because of a "pay for play" scheme where fresh/new musicians coming to Nashville desiring to make a name for themselves could find their music climb the music charts (setting their path to exposure and fame) by simply paying a certain promotion agency (Cash Box) enough money to get a certain spot on the chart. You can read about that here. The guy killed was just an honest fella that worked inside the business promotions stuff and realized the corrupt nature of how musician's are made by such a phony ratings system. It sounds like the CPAC presidential candidate better watch who he is trying to expose.

Republicans don’t like to admit this, but there’s large degrees of corruption on both sides of the aisle. Unfortunately, when a governmental system is as big as the one we have in this country, corruption is just inherent.

Republican Never Trumpers hate Trump for a variety of reasons. They say, if we only had Desantis as the candidate, all would be well, the Independents and Kennedy Democrats would flock to him, the media would leave him a lone. That's a crock of dooky. Disantis would be the new receiver of Democrat fury, (and it's already started on the View).

I don’t think anyone actually thinks what you just wrote. C’mon dude.

If Trump could act like a human being instead of a jackass I could support him I don't want a farm animal in the White House...but, I don't want this sleazeball, marionette, mindless twit of a "human" in there either! I'd still have to write in Nikki Haley or vote Libertarian.

I wouldn't know. I don't have time to watch a bunch of old, bitter windbags who have nothing better to do than run everyone down.

i always liked nikky haley.... and i will vote for her if she gets the republican nomination... just like i will vote for any republican that gets the nomination....... . but i will never vote for nikky haley above someone like donald trump or ron desantis..... the same goes for other conservative republicans .. now doing the cable news network shows - like jason chavetz... trey gowdy... and kelly anne conway .... i like all of them ... but there is one thing they did. ..similar to what nikky haley did... that i find it very hard to forgive them for......

they each held a position of service and responsibiity ...even authority.. an office where they were doing great things... and they walked away from it...... .... and not to take or run for a position of higher office either, like ron de santis is considering doing.... they simply walked away..... abandoned their post, so to speak..... ...how could anyone trust them again?....... .....now it might come down to a case where we have no other choice but to trust them if we want conservatives to win over liberal lunacy.... but i hope it doesn;t come to that....

and i know.... i have heard all the excuses such as..."they quit to spend more time with their families"... or .."they thought they could serve better working from the outside somewhere else"... with many "etc etcs " added to those 2.... and to all of it i say "B.S. times 10!"..... tell them all to tell it to the marines... or to members of the other branches of military service...or even to kids like me who grew up in civil service/first responder families..... or better yet... tell them to tell their story walking.... and to keep walking while someone else who won;t give up, or walk away from office.. and who understands the meaning of sacrifice takes the job with a determination to finish it and see it to the end...

nobody not willing to make an ultimate sacrifice, should be in a position of power that can order others to do so.. ..i don;t know a better way to say it than that....

I agree with you. I wish Trey Gowdy never would have stepped out of the Fray.
But I have to admit, sometimes one gets tired of the pressure and living in a glass house.
I can somewhat compare it to the ministry.
Many times I just get tired of the pressure & responsibility as well.
So, I can somewhat understand why some leave positions like they do.
Being in the fray for over 25 years, I don't knock people for stepping away from it.Pastorate.jpg

i know i shouldn;t be as hard as i am on people who leave those kinds of positions either..... and in truth i know my dad.. who was a firefighter paramedic for over 30 years... would not only agree with you... but he also advises others to not even consider going into that kind of civil service job or anything even close to it unless they have thought it out carefully and studied what has happened to those who did those jobs long term....... he never criticizes other paramedics who walk away from it or other similar jobs either.... ..

but i sometimes can;t help it... especially when i remember all the things we missed out on... plans that had to be cancelled at the last minute... or just time i would have liked to have him home for an evening but couldn;t because some other medic called in sick or bailed out of the job completely leaving a position open that had to be filled by someone else doing double shifts for weeks on end.. ..but then i see the people i grew up with whose parents died on the job and i realize we didn;t have it that bad after all.... it could have been much worse..... .....

on the bright side i did spend a lot of time at firestations where he worked and not every hour he was on the job was spent running to emergency calls.. you could even say i grew up at firestations.... ..a lot of time was spent recovering from those calls though... a lot of free off duty time.... and now a pretty substantial part of his retirement time too... .....but he says it;s a job and a life he wouldn;t wish on anybody... he would not have done it either but it was born into his blood and he couldn;t deny it.... ...it must have been in mine too...because unlike other kids born into first responder families i chose at the age of 10 to be in.... and i would never go back and trade it for anything....
