They order our bedpans from Amazon.

They better keep coming.

They have hurt brick and mortar stores. Smaller versions of Amazon are growing also. I'm thinking of trying boxed.com instead of going to Sam's for paper towels and such.

The market is free only in theory. The key phrase in economics is "all other things being equal." When does that happen? Never.

There was a day when we needed something we went to the Department Store. Amazon and other "online stores" came along and people realized they could save time and/or money by buying online. So now we have stores that are closing and the real estate developers are struggling. How is that not the free market dictating what is happening?

Are there any unfair tax advantages or other items?

They collect sales tax for 45 states. So what other items were you thinking?

"Amazon has already capitalized on the sales tax advantage it had during its start-up phase. Amazon's low-cost sales tax collection system, coupled with Amazon's extensive and efficient fulfillment and distribution networks, give Amazon such a large cost advantage that it becomes, or reinforces its position as the pre-eminent online retail platform."

This isn't about Amazon as a business (remember the corporate tax cut for businesses???); this is a personal vendetta. Trump is willing to sacrifice the 401Ks and retirement plans of those who are investing in Amazon simply because he wants to get WAPO off his back, publishing anti-Trump articles. It's about making WAPO an arm of his propaganda machine (as he attacks other media outlets for the same reason).

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos owns the Washington Post.

This is personal and about media control. Ya know, like the flotilla- (or shall we say, "caravan-") based countries. ;)
