Paul Chappell posted this on FB today saying he was praying for MacArthur.
A few IFB’s attacked him for associating with a heretic (on the blood).

I forget that there are still those who continue to believe and spout such drivel.

Hating on MacArthur about the blood is one of the Old Paths, one of the Fundamentals of the faith.

The ones that are attacking Chappell are probably the ones secretly using MacArthur's commentaries.

I am a bit surprised that Chappell would post a picture with him however.

I'm not, tbh. Pastor Chappell has quite a few John MacArthur books and commentaries in his office. He doesn't agree with everything that MacArthur believes; but he does respect him. Pastor Chappell is not narrow-minded in his vision. If I had to describe him, I would say he looks at things from a big picture standpoint instead of a "this is my kingdom" and "we are the only ones who are right" type of mindset. He is fundamental in his doctrine and firm in his beliefs on Scripture. But, he does a great job of reaching out to the community and really influencing those around him. Unfortunately, people are using a picture showing support for assembling together as a "confirmation" that somehow he and MacArthur are going to be preaching conferences together now. I would be surprised if that happened.

Just looked up the "blood" controversy. Did not even know about this issue.

The IFBs... even moderate ones... lost a bunch of us because of their inconsistent (and ill-defined) secondary separation.
John Piper, MacArthur, Grudem... ALL had a large influence in our theology... but were anathema for ever coming to speak or letting us go to their conferences.

No all IFB's are opposed to MacArthur like the great Jack Hyles was. Also Larry Brown and Jack Trieber weren't fond of MacArthur either.

Tony Hutson on the other hand has said good things about MacArthur in his sermons/comedy routine. Hutson doesn't agree with everything MacArthur says but he stands with MacArthur who is very anti-Hillsong and very anti-seeker sensitive movement as is Dr. Hutson.

We used to have some fun "magic blood" discussions on the old forum.

Do you remember Phil Johnson on the old forum probably early 2000's? Guys from Babylon Bee interviewed him recently.

Phil wasn't exactly unknown back in 2000, being an elder at Grace Community Church and the executive director of their media ministry (in addition to being John MacArthur's editor). He's only become better known in the years since his stint on the FFF, thanks to a hugely influential blog, speaking at Shepherd's Conference, and various other endeavours.

I assume that the Bee interview you're referencing is about GCC's recent decision to defy the state government and resume regular church meetings? (Update: [sees link] Ah, of course it is.)

Only in the mind of an IFB...... can praying for someone equal such nonsense.

1Ti 2:1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
