Non-woke Sports

As I sit here watching an NFL game, I wonder are there literally any sports that haven’t gone woke yet? Baseball is…football is…basketball has been for years…even NASCAR is these days. Heck, even the PGA Tour has gone woke. I guess PBR bull riding might be the last soldier standing! (Unfortunately, I’m not a cowboy, so no interest in rodeo.)

i was just about to mention rodeo.... but then i saw your last sentence.... . i am not a cowboy either but i still love watching rodeo.... i also love watching rejoneadera style bull fighting... .as well as matadora style fights.... . ...no politics on display there.... but plenty of protestors who are never allowed near the arenas..... ...

until 2 years ago ice hockey was known as the last woke free sport... .. but that;s changing too...... mostly we watch a lot of college sports .. ..especially softball..... where politicizing is discouraged.... ...doesn;t mean the players aren;t woke they just don;t display it on the field,,,,,

but a big pro sport here where you won;t see players bent on political activism is international rugby... ... my favorite to watch is the womens 7s division.. ..(in fact i started a thread about it in the sports forum a few months ago).... ..... but we watched both divisions in the rugby 7s world wide finals today... in the mens 7s division south africa put a beat down on samoa..... .... ... btw the big difference in rugby 7s and full roster 15 member team rugby, is the 7s game moves faster ... and has more action on the field..... ...full roster rugby can look like a mob wrestling match sometimes.....

i have not watched a pro football game in years.... i grew up an oakland raider fan... and at one time other forum members here joked that the fff had 2 of the last 3 raider fans left in the world.... . (you can probably guess who the other one besides me was)..... ... but i have no interest in watching pro football at all any more......

I never got the hang of hockey. I guess growing up in the South where the lakes never froze over, it just didn’t appeal to me since I couldn’t actually skate.
Same with any sport that’s more European in nature…they’re just sports I tend to watch during the Olympics.
I watch a little bit of college football and even less of the NFL, but I still do watch. The college football players getting paid via NIL (name/image/likeness), has soured me even more on college football, but it is what it is.
I used to watch PGA golf more than anything, but now the LIV Tour has split the PGA and some of the best players have left the PGA.
I guess fishing shows are about the only thing I really watch anymore on a regular basis, but that’s just not a good substitute for team sports. I should add that I have been learning to like the UFC, and like boxing, I don’t think it’s gone woke…yet!

Yes Boxing/UFC haven't bowed to the left. MLS have gone woke with "Pride" jerseys for every club and so has the Premier League in England.
 
i will actually be involved in a non-woke sport today.... traditonal archery... (non-woke today because i;m the instuctor and can teach it my way .. ;))...... ... when other archers are there.. (non-students).... we sometimes get embroiled in political discussions... and they started calling me a ted nugent style trump supporter a few months ago..... i told them that;s not true .. i;m beyond ted nugent.... coz ted compromises his convictions and uses a compound bow... .. i stay true to the basics of primitive traditonal archery... with an old fashioned stick and string longbow.... :cool:..

but it;s currently 6 am here in hawaii and i will be leaving soon to spend the day out there... ... there must be a movie or something coming out soon featuring archery because all of a sudden a whole bunch of people got interested in learning it.... ... a fellow.. fully certified... instructor was overwhelmed today and sent some of his students to me..... one of my room mates is going with me and she has become a fairly good archer herself.... she;s going to be my assistant instructor.... she is also driving since i don;t.. .. but i;m buying the coffee... .. :coffee:.....

Ever considered Bowling? They still show Bowling on ESPN and Bally Sports and haven't jumped on the woke/socialist bandwagon.

I enjoy rolling a ball a time or two a year, but watching bowling doesn’t exactly get my juices pumping.
