J. Vernon McGee rightly pointed out that a nation goes through three phases before its final downfall: Religious Apostasy, Moral Awfulness, and finally, Political Anarchy. He said 50 years ago that we were in the third stage. I wonder what he'd say about our current administration.

I would hope he would condemn it's lawless, amoral acts.
 
I think to give the VP credit for tactically omitting the phrase would be to give her way too much credit to begin with. The lights are on…but nobody is home.

i;m not entirely sure what you said there.... but it sounds like you are describing a culturally biased atmosphere in which women were discouraged through shame and ridicule, from wanting to participate in certain sports,... and in most cases due to extra-biblical traditions inforced by males, apparently wishing to continue practicing victorian age values,... rather than following anything they found in scripture....

in an atmosphere like that it should come as no surprise that lesbians and other women, not feeling bound by such traditions or beholden to men.., are the only ones who feel comfortable going into sports males have traditionally believed should belong solely to them..... it would also explain why lesbians already established in those sports would churlishly want to see the sport reserved only for them.... and why they might try to intimidate other women to stay out of it....

thankfully that atmosphere does not exist in all parts of the country.... most parents in other parts of the country have realized that if they want their daughters to remain strong and healthy in their later years ... it;s important to get them involved in strenuous and physically demanding activities when they are young.. ..sports where they can compete head to head with other young women their own age.... and unfortunately drill team.. cheerleading.. and even volleyball are not nearly enough....

I can honestly say that none of the memories I have of those times include notions that my peers didn't want their female classmates to have outlets to pursue their sports interests, no matter what sport it was. However, there were plenty of people who felt that some places in sports were out of bounds for females, like football for instance.

I can't really speak to the "why" behind the reason for what seemed like a disproportionate number of lesbian participants in certain sports, that is a bit above my pay grade.🙂 It could have in part possibly been due to the higher visibility within cultural and social circles for athletes (especially in high school). In that regard, I suppose that it is possible that the percentage of lesbians (or bi-sexuals) amongst the female population that did not participate in sports may have been just as high as their counterparts who participated in sports, but those non-athlete females may have simply been more discrete about their feelings/attitude/behavior.

The philosophy I’ve taken with my daughter is that I have encouraged her to be involved in any sport she wants. Over the years, we’ve tried a garden variety of sports, from gymnastics to dancing to volleyball, and more. Each ended with her losing interest. Right now we’re back to playing golf. She’s not very inclined towards participating in sports to begin with, so if golf is what she’ll do, I’m fine with that. I realize golf is not the most physically demanding sport, but at least it’s outdoors and involves a lot of walking, which in the long run in life, is the best exercise as one gets older. They also have the kids do a lot of pre- and post stretching, which again, is incredibly beneficial for life in the long term.

I should add that she’s been involved with music lessons and band for several years, and has always been faithful to that pursuit. I’m thankful for that, but I think a nice balance of being involved in something that involves sweating outdoors is equally as important.

No. I’m a reader. War timelines are always best understood in hindsight. There are always hard demarcations of when wars began, and most historians only recognize them in retrospect. For those paying particular attention, the day Russia invaded Ukrainian territory will be considered the beginning date. The US, under Biden, is now sending OFFENSIVE weapons to Ukraine. It may well turn out to be the beginning of WWIII, but I sincerely doubt it. History was one of my majors in college, and I am well-versed in the previous two worldwide conflicts. Yes, there are similarities, but, there are many differences as well. We chose sides, as did most of the world, the minute Putin invaded Ukraine. Remember, Russia had already invaded Ukraine when it took over the small region back nearly 10 years or so ago. They needed and wanted those ports.

california actually did have a few slaves - way back in the beginning of it;s colonization by the spanish and other europeans.. ... but they were not black or african slaves.. ..and according to historians it was way back in the 1500s.... in fact it started and was done with prior to the 1619 date activitsts claim the first african slaves were brought to the americas..... ... ..... the slaves held in california were all native americans - taken from the indian tribes that lived in that part of the continent.... .

but it didn;t work and didn;t last very long, for a number of different reasons... . one of which was the difficulty to simply keep native americans in captivity.. .they were very good at running away and the number of people it required to watch them made it not worth the trouble...... .

there are records of a few african american slaves brought to california during the gold rush days.... but every known case also records that they were freed shortly after arrival... and in some of those cases those freed former slaves went into business for themselves prospecting for gold and actually became wealthy - using that income to start their own successful businesses in california... ..and it;s more than likely that the land they did that on was actually stolen from native americans over 2 centuries before.....

so yeah.... this whole idea of paying "reparations" to modern day african americans in california is ridiculous.... and based on nothing but lies and false revisions of history... ....it;s just one more way the socialist left is trying to destroy the country... and doing it according to their official mantra made popular during their 2020 season of riots... "by any means necessary"....

The first slaves were indeed Native Americans, and not just in California. I’d have far less of an issue with compensating the nation’s indigenous population. Another inconvenient fact is that Africans sold their own people into slavery. Despite that being a fact, it’s considered taboo to mention. Additionally, there were freed black people who also owned black slaves—another inconvenient fact that’s considered taboo to mention.
 
being from california... and being mostly native american... i could probably say i deserve reparations for the slavery my ancestors might have been subjected to..... ...but then the other half of my background is hispanic... meaning it might have been the spanish members of my ancestors that enslaved them...... so if i was due any reparations, by rights it would have to paid by me to myself..... :confused: ...

it gets even more complicated than that.... but i;m dizzy enough as it is today already..... and besides... i don;t even live in california anymore... i live in hawaii.... and wasn;t born in california either... .. i was born in arizona on the navajo reservation....

on a side note.... it;s rare to find african americans today that will even come close to admitting native americans were treated far worse in the past centuries than their own ancestors from africa were.... .. they like to insist that blacks in america had it far worse than anybody else.... even ignoring the post civil war incidents in the west when freed blacks were enlisted to help persecute native tribes...... .....

in fact i had an intense argument with a poster once - several years ago on this very forum... and concerning this same issue..... i wasn;t trying to say my own people should be pitied in any way - just that his own ancestors were not innocent regarding what had happened to them..... especially in places like wounded knee and the southwest where black cavalry known as buffalo soldiers were involved.....

now speaking of a subject that is taboo to mention.... that is among the top 10 for sure.. ..... right up there with your post and the other side of ww2 japanese internment - specifically how the niihau incident led to it.... ..🤯 ... ....they say truth dies in darkness.... but the woke sherpas are doing a pretty good job of killing it in broad daylight these days.....
