I came across this website which I confess I’m still not really familiar with the entirety of its content. It appears to be an ‘evangelical’ website (Andy Stanley is referenced) that offers ways to accept gays into the church. But it also seems to affirm the gay lifestyle. As you know, kids and teens are confused about gender because of the pro-trans/gay culture in which we live.
Anyone familiar with this site?Does anyone know of biblical resources for helping gay or trans kids and their parents. It is something we are going to face more and more going forward.

Check out Steven Anderson on YouTube. He has some really helpful videos. :D

Just kidding. Don't do that.

IOW they are enabling kids to live comfortably in their sin....

Because of many of his statements and positions of late, I've started staying away from ANYTHING that Andy Stanley says.

Be welcoming and tolerant of gay guests or attendees to your church. They need to hear the Gospel as much as everyone else. But being welcome and tolerant doesn't mean acceptance of sin. I don't believe God has a special axe to grind with homosexuals that he doesn't have with the rest of us--but gays, like the rest of us, need to repent of their beloved sins.

Watch out for buzzwords like "affirming." There's a whole movement in mainline churches in Canada, particularly the United Church, of "affirming churches." Affirming churches hang rainbow flags and celebrate "sexual diversity" as though it was a blessing rather than an abomination.

Thus that presentation you linked to isn't doing anyone any spiritual good.

Welcome and love them but make no pretense about accommodating or affirming their lifestyle! They need to have the gospel preached to them and know that you truly care about them.

I would say it is safe to assume that Andy Stanley does the former and neglects the latter? Likely a primary motive behind his insistence that we "Unhitch the Old Testament from the New Testament" so we no longer have to deal with those pesky texts in Leviticus and in Genesis regarding Sodom and Gomorrah.

This argument really boils down to whether a particular religious group believes a person is born homo/bi/whatever or simply chooses the identity. Obviously, the more liberal denominations believe one’s sexual identity is equivalent to being born with brown eyes or small feet; while the conservative groups are adamant it’s all a choice.

Believers need to reject the idea of heterosexuality. (Responses uninformed by the cited article will be obvious.) <--for the sake of Witless Joe, et al*.

Ahhh…Michael Foucault. That brings back some political philosophy memories. I was pretty fascinated with him twenty years ago, now I think he was probably just a Grade-A nut.
