During his sermon this morning, our pastor was warning about the danger of compromising when he gave the following illustration: "I like Gevalia coffee and was preparing to make some for myself but there wasn't quite enough to make a full pot. So I looked in the cupboards and found some Folger's which I decided to use to make a full pot. I used just a little Folger's but the whole pot tasted like Folger's, not Gevalia. A little Folger's leavenes the whole pot!"

Amen, brother!

we use to buy folgers coffee for only 2 reasons.... ground coffee is a great odor obsorbent... and can even help cover your scent when you are hunting..🏹.. . and also because they were the last coffee company to sell coffee in big metal cans... ... those cans were useful for a lot of things.. ..but when they went to plastic containers we stopped buying it... .. and we never drank that stuff - especially after i started working at starbucks as a teenager.... . from then on we bought only super dark roasted beans from starbucks and ground them ourselves...:coffee: ... still do.. even though i don;t work there anymore...:cautious:

I'm not a fan of French Roast unless a friend mine who graduated from UW makes it. It's GOOOOOD! I'll drink a pot with him and I'm wired for the day.😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

Cafe Du Monde is the only type of coffee we buy. Chicory is a must. If getting coffee to go, I try to avoid woke Starbucks from getting my money, but they still do occasionally. 1681174946673.jpeg

i agree.... and i hate to say it - but starbucks is hopelessly woke..... and yet the way they roast their coffee is in my opinion the very best way... so it;s a personal weakness i allow myself....... ;).. .... but we buy it from a grocery vendor and make it ourselves at home most all the time.... . i only go into a starbucks nowdays to meet friends and have a coffee drink i don;t make at home.. and it;s usually so chocked full of white chocolate and sugar that i can only drink one once a month or so.... maybe twice if nobody is looking...:sneaky:

I understand. I used to enjoy their iced chai tea, but stopped drinking it after watching my sugar/carbs about a year ago. My daughter enjoys some of their drinks, so I occasionally indulge her a trip to Starbucks. In reality, probably all of these companies are donating to the woke causes, it just seems Starbucks is more “in your face” about it.

My first introduction to Starbucks was when coffee houses were really taking off in the 1990s. We had a local guy where I was living in So. Cal. who had opened a really nice place. He'd bring in bands, mostly jazz but the occasional folk or blues players. He roasted his own coffee and it was really good. A few years later, Starbucks opened their first shop in the town and almost immediately began talking smack saying they'd put this other place under. Um, no. I refused to go there even before I was aware of their woke tendencies.

I eventually tried their product when I moved out of California and was disgusted by it. It tastes burnt to me. I am also put off by their mafia style takeover tactics. The School I went to had a really nice coffee stand. The gal who ran it was really sweet and she made KILLER cranberry orange scones that went well with the coffee sold. At the start of a new school year, she was gone and, you guessed it Starbuck's was in her place.

As far as I am concerned, it will be a great day when Starbuck's goes out of business.

I was in the Orlando area about a year ago and stopped by a little locally-owned coffee shop. I went in the restroom and they had Starbucks stickers in the urinal and toilet. I was laughing pretty hard while aiming for the sticker! 1681208401956.png

you have heard of black rifle coffee?... (made by coffee or die company... automatic rifle on the label)
.
... .. well... there is a new brand of coffee out there.... black powder.... (made by traditions muzzle
loader specialists)
... . i haven;t tried it yet... planning to order some online and see if it;s worth it.
...but only if i can find it in dark roast.... all i can say is it better be strong coffee.... i don;t expect

it to be flammable or to substitute for gun powder in a firearm..... but it better be stronger than
what the "medium" tag on the label implies... :coffee:

Not too picky about coffee brands. I'm sipping HyVee French roast right now.

I do love a good coffee meme:
