They won't do that here....It will always be based on what the TVA wants. Go figure.

and how exactly would that not encourage everybody to just crank up the airconditioner?. ..if the bill won;t matter might as well waste all that power - and chill the house down to 64 degrees.. ... or even just leave the lights on whether they are home or not....... ...well.... ... ..actually... the government in california is like a house with the lights on and nobody home anyway..... so it figures.... :sneaky:

I didn’t even think about it from that POV, but you’re exactly right, it will just encourage those with no means to waste energy, and those with means, to conserve.

Then add to the fact that California can barely keep up with the power demands as it is. Besides, the environmentalist wackos want hydroelectric dams breached, the use of fossil fuels curtailed and no nukes. How is electricity to be generated so lower income types can waste it?

Our house is your typical multi-generational "Asian" family with one "Token White American" who has obviously spent time in the armed services! If such becomes a reality here in Texas, I will have the utilities placed in the name of whatever kid happens to have the lowest income! Perhaps I will switch it back over to my name when I am living solely upon Social Security a few years from now.

i don;t know.... i think those with means would waste it too..... why be uncomfortable when your bill will be the same no matter what?...... ....

we have constant tradewind breezes that come through here and the apartment is situated so that the wind blows through...to most of us it is very comfortable.. even cold at night sometimes... ..i don;t personally like air conditioning.... so if my sister is off island or out of state we like to keep the windows open and turn the AC off..... but when she is home the AC is turned on and the thermostat is set at 64.... however, she pays the bills and she also owns the house.... so she makes the rules.... ....i just live here....

but it works... those of us in the other 4 rooms can always close the AC vents and open windows if we want..... .plus i have my own door to the outside lanai.... and... i also have a genuine super thick, u.s. navy wool blanket made for polar region submarines if that doesn;t work.... but no matter what the outside air is like the rest of the house will be 64 degrees.... 🥶
