Resolutions?

Anyone making any resolutions this new year?
The only resolution that makes sense. This resolution can and should be made anytime.

Any resolution that is delayed until a certain date is doomed to failure. It is merely the flesh that says "I gotta stop doing this".

May God pour out His Spirit on His people that they would desire true inward and outward holiness...

The third stanza says it all:

I am resolved, and who will go with me?
Come, friends, without delay;
taught by the Bible, led by the Spirit,
we'll walk the heavenly way.

Why try to improve on perfection?

I had one resolution last year: to eat a can of soup.

The can is still on the shelf, so I guess it's this year's resolution, now.

If I had one, I guess it would be to not let the media upset me so much, to somehow tune them out.

That is one I made back in 2020. For me, "the media" includes FARCEbook.

Does this mean I'm hiding my head in the sand? By no means. I'm still aware of what is going on around me; I'm just not giving ear to whatever spin is being put on it. In fact, I just got done listening to a sermon where the pastor read from Isaiah 8:

11For this is what the LORD has spoken to me with a strong hand, instructing me not to walk in the way of this people:

12“Do not call conspiracy
everything these people regard as conspiracy.
Do not fear what they fear;
Do not live in dread.
13The LORD of Hosts is the One
you shall regard as holy.
Only He should be feared;
only He should be dreaded.

14And He will be a sanctuary—
but to both houses of Israel
a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense,
to the dwellers of Jerusalem
a trap and a snare.
15Many will stumble over these;
they will fall and be broken;
they will be ensnared and captured.”
16Bind up the testimony
and seal the law among my disciples.
17I will wait for the LORD,
who is hiding His face from the house of Jacob.
I will put my trust in Him.
18Here am I, and the children the LORD has given me as signs and symbols in Israel from the LORD of Hosts, who dwells on Mount Zion.

Emphasis, mine.

Well!!

I feel better: I once requested your "friendship" on "Farcebook" and I never heard back. Perhaps you don't go there much and you weren't aware of my request.

Facebook and their "jail" isn't any better than CNN and the others in certain ways.

Yup. I quit the FB habit toward the end of 2020. About six months later, I logged back on to see what was going on only to find that a beloved classmate had just passed away. I haven't been back to FB since.

This chapter of my testimony will show why that news was so hard for me to take.

When it comes to the media, my wife and I cut them out years ago, including Fox. Since we have Peacock, we watch the late news for Chicago and Philadelphia when we get up at 2 AM or 3 AM....outside of that we don't watch any news unless we decide to watch Early Today on NBC, which is the only national station we get with Peacock. At times my wife will make me turn off the news because I tend to, at times, get easily angered when I see injustice or outright lies.

I still use Farcebook because it is the best way for me to keep in touch with my nephews and nieces, and at times my mother, sisters and brothers. I'm not a big fan of the platform, though, and I've called them out several times on it's own platform and in letters. I've even gotten my State representatives and Senators involved.
