So close your eyes and tell me.......

Worrying about the fact that some worker counted the kids on my bus and would turn me in for overloading it.

My stomach rumbling for lack of nourishment after not eating anything meaningful since I got up at 4 in the morning to go get a bus.
In the '70s, we fixed lunches for everyone on Saturday and Sunday mornings. I got up at 4:30 in the morning to do that. Did they stop doing that in the 80s?

if you can imagine yourself sitting in a pew at FBCH during your time there, what details do you remember?

*As always, one memory per post. Remember, it's all about the numbers!!
Every single guy had the exact same haircut. They all walked the same. It was like a robot factory.

I'm pretty sure we still had box lunches available, but I spent 2 out of the 3.5 years at Hyles as a married student. I was too groggy to make anything of substance that early in the morning! 🤪
And I didn't wake my wife up early to make me breakfast...even we mini-dictators in training weren't that stupid.

Well not necessarily...We all walked like the leader we served under. For example, Roger Casteel walked a certain way, kind of hunched over a little, and we Casteel worshipers followed his example. :p

As far as the haircuts, there were rules in the rule book that said our hair had to be a certain way and well, if you went against it, you got demerits.

I know. But even the non college student guys had that haircut. The church had at least 4000 in attendance when I went there and maybe there were 1000 students? 1986 Thanksgiving. I know, I was a Maranatha student in the 90's and we had rules too. I look back on it and laugh.

Cookie cutters. A lot of IFB people and churches claim, no we’re not like the others…but they are. Just start asking questions 😂

Exactly. You walk into a church and you can tell within 15 minutes if it's a Hyles-type church.

My experience tells me that all IFB churches are Hyles-type churches.

They claim, oh no we’re r not like the others. But go on a Sunday morning. All the men are dressed alike, all the women are dressed alike, all the teens are dressed alike, all the children are dressed alike.

They demand the same things of the people that Hyles did, it may look a little different but it’s the same.

Just chug some Binaca and take me back to the good ol days.....

Sing it with me.....
"We love you pre-ea-cher, oh yes we do, we don't love anyone as much as you..........."

I preached in the LCJC (juvenile detention center), and we would get to the morning service with 1-2 minutes to spare.
Sometimes, I snuck in during the prayer.
It helps that the FBC people didn't know I was in College, and had watched me stand in the Hallway for years, as an HB Reb.
🤣
And as a HACker, noone knew what to do with you.
