"It would be wise for Christians not to try to connect the current war between Israel and Iran to specific prophecies in the Bible in an effort to determine where we might be in the end times, said Dr. Russell Moore, editor-in-chief of Christianity Today. . . .

“'But Jesus told us that what would shock people about his return is not the drama that’s leading up to it,' he said, 'but the ordinariness.'

"After Israel bombed Iran, a friend of Dr. Russell Moore’s heard a preacher explain 'a whole chart about how Gog and Magog in the Book of Ezekiel represents Russia, Iran represents the nations that are rushing Israel at the end of time, and that we might be moving right toward Armageddon right now,' said Moore. . . .

"Moore cautioned that Jesus himself did not encourage his followers to connect world events to specific statements in the Bible. In fact, people will be living their normal, ordinary lives when Jesus returns, said Moore, pointing to Matthew 24 where Jesus said 'people will be marrying and having children and working jobs.'

“'Could Jesus return at any moment? Yes, absolutely. He says, "‘Be ready like a thief in the night." But can we track that coming based on the bombing schedules of Israel and Iran?. . . 'What will happen with Iran? What will happen with the Middle East? What will happen with your life this next week?' Moore asked. 'I don’t know. But I know we can trust him. And that’s all the prophecy chart we need.'”

I do not believe in ‘the rapture’ or Russell Moore!

Although I agree about avoiding all of the "End-times Hysteria," I have to stop and think this one through here...

Jesus made this statement in Mt 24 but his actual return to Mt Olivet described in Rev 19 where he confronts and crushes all of the armies encamped around Israel doesn't seem just like "any other day" to me! How do we reconcile this?

Also, aren't the events spoken of in Ez 38-39 supposed to precede Christ's return?

As I have noted before, I don't see anything at all in the Ezekiel 38-39 passage that in any way connects this invasion event with Christ's return. I have also stated my understanding that if the descriptions of ancient weapons and transport exclusively by horses are to be taken literally, then this invasion must have already taken place in ancient times. Even if it is assumed to be a future event, I still don't see anything here that connects this alleged Russian/Persian invasion with the Rapture and Second Coming of Christ - the invasion could precede the Rapture by centuries, for all we know.

Also, I don't understand how our attack on Iran, which has been claimed to be a total victory over Iran, thus hindering their military ability to invade Israel, could be seen as leading up to, and "setting the stage" for, the Ezekiel 38-39 scenario. I would think it would work the other way, forcing the Iranians to put that invasion on hold, perhaps for centuries.
